Kenshin Junior and Senior High School
The School Year

The Japanese school year begins in April
and is divided into three terms: April-July, September-December
and January-March. Summer vacation begins in July, winter
vacation begins in the third week of December and the academic
year ends in the third week of March. Report cards are issued
at the end of each term.
Educational Principals
In Japan, junior and senior high school students
form the study habits and attitudes they will carry with them
for the rest of their lives. Japanese revere education and students
at this level realize the value of a serious pursuit of education.
Beyond classroom lessons though, the school has the great responsibility
to teach the students to function together in groups, to take
their respective places in society and to function as individuals
with personal goals and ideals.
The underlying principle of education at Mejiro
Kenshin Junior and Senior High School is to respect the individuality
and personality of the student. It is the goal of the educational
process here to help each student develop to her full potential.
Every class in the junior high school has less
than thirty students, and there are less than forty students in
each class in the high school. These class sizes help provide
a balance for interaction between students as well as fostering
a close relationship between the students and their teachers.
