Japanese Language Education Center
The Japanese Language Education Center was established for the purpose of giving the knowledge and materials related to Japanese language education accumulated over many years at Mejiro University, as well as guidance methods and other intellectual property, back to society through Japanese language instruction In April 2009, the Center began offering a long term, semester-based Japanese Language Program for Foreign Students (JALP) and a short term, winter Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program (JALC) for students from anywhere in the world with the desire to learn Japanese.
Japanese Language Program for Foreign Students (JALP)
The Japanese Language Program for Foreign Students (known as JALP) is a concentrated, one-year Japanese language study program run by the Japanese Language Education Center. The program offers two separate courses, the General Japanese Course for students wishing to enter a Japanese university and students needing to improve their Japanese language skills for daily living or work purposes, and the Graduate School Course for students wishing to improve their Japanese language skills to the level required for entrance into graduate school and graduate school research. Both courses offer Japanese language education that meets the specific needs and levels of individual students. The program admits students twice a year, for the Spring and Autumn semesters, and actively accepts students from both within Japan and abroad.
Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program (JALC)
The Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program (known as JALC) is a two-week study program offered for foreign students during the winter terms. During morning Japanese language courses, Mejiro University lecturers with years of experience in Japanese language education give lectures on Japanese culture and related topics. During the afternoon sessions, students are provided with opportunities to experience Japanese culture, the heart of the Japanese language, first-hand and learn more about Japanese history, culture, and society by visiting places of historical and cultural significance located mainly throughout Tokyo.
